un bon mot

Have I recently shared my self-invented principles for recovery from a bout with the mental health system?

To clear your deaths and streamline your ship to get back into society, there are two principles.

DON’T let anyone say you are living in the past and leave it at that because there is probably a reason for it.

The cure:

You are RETROACTIVELY INTERPOLATING emotional crutches and bandaids you didn’t know about at the time OR that DIDN’T EXIST at the time; to brighten up your future, however long or short it maybe. I’m sixty-one. This principle gives me great joy and boosted me way up out of an oblivion I saw myself falling into even today.

Then, a corollary: You need to proactively proliferate a better future. This one is gleaned from my recent hospital day, something I have heard before but didn’t listen. It’s because of my age: desperate measures. The principle is RADICAL ACCEPTANCE. You have to grab hold of that and run with it to get out of anywhere you are mired in the past and let it go. “Accentuate the positive.” That’s another one from the long-ago past that you don’t often hear any more. Take out the trash. Find the new you.

Well I hope that this helps someone.

It is where I am at and it is my “bon mot” for this evening.
