My son went to a boarding school in Florida a half-hour from our home. He came home on weekends. Sometimes he didn’t want to go back. The kids fought.
After five years he had to leave because of the eye injury. They just couldn’t hold him after that.
I didn’t realize it about that school until just now. I thought kids went there to get straightened out. In fact, some of the wealthiest kids in the world went there.
Ian changed to day student status after a couple years. I drove him early every morning in the Acura Integra. And picked him up in rhe afternoon. It was the best time in our lives.
He wanted so badly to graduate. But not everybody did. Some kids got straightened out and then left. Ian went on to a Catholic school for a year; then we left Florida for here. He did a year and a half at Kutztown University.
Now he’s working at a good job.
Now I am ill. I had an infection for too long. I think it has gotten into my bones. Nothing can be done about this. I’ll go the way of all things.
Seeing my father today.
